Lyft will send drivers a smartphone to mount on their car windshields in order to enhance Lyft’s own maps (LyftMaps) and navigation by using the camera on the smartphone to automatically record road imagery.

Drivers who turn on the smartphone while they are driving for Lyft will earn more than they would otherwise and get a “Self-installation bonus”. Drivers will have to agree to Lyft’s Camera and Mapping Agreement to use the smartphone. The kit includes a windshield mount, cable, and a car power adapter. No details have been provided yet on the smartphone model Lyft will use.
Lyft is also working on “smooth cruising” driving reports for drivers by recording motion during drives using the Lyft app.
Lyft is looking to provide paid parking reservations through SpotHero.
Lyft Glow, the new version of the Lyft Amp light, will ship in August.
